Pray for Joel: for healing as he is ill and that he would be able to concentrate and focus in his last semester of school.

Pray against the spirit of distraction while on the streets.

Pray for encouragement and energy on the street.

Pray for unity of the team; to be “like-minded, having the same love, and being one in spirit and purpose.”

Prayer Requests 8.16.2010

For the Streets:

Cass”: Pray for healing and redemption of her brokenness from pain and abuse. For God to really step in as Father for her, but also for some real men to step in and be a father figure in her life. And for her to find her identity in Christ not her past.

S-Man”: Pray for him to get a break in his pursuit of art, but that he would ultimately learn to depend on God.

Lopez”: Pray that he would re-surrender his life to God. Pray that God would capture him despite the circumstances and difficulties of life. Pray for him as he grieves the loss of his mom.

Pray for “J’s” salvation.

For strongholds to broken down and the enemy to be defeated.

For the team…

For everyone to move in and by the power and leading of the Spirit.

For everyone’s heart to hunger more after God and to be devoted to personal time with Him.

For everyone to remember they are image-bearers of the God Almighty and to walk in the confidence of His covering.

Prayer Requests 5.31.10

May 31st, 2010

Pray for the streets:

For a potential men’s retreat as some of the guys have indicated they want to get back on track.

Daniel – struggling with loneliness since the loss of his mom. He needs Gods presence and a caring community. Also he needs prayer about revenge.

Shane – owns the pawn shop. Pray he’d find something more fulfilling than buying jewelry (Jesus!)

Jeremy – He isn’t feeling that well. Pray also that he would continue to open up to the street team and that he’d find forgiveness in Jesus.

James – He mentioned he feels like he may need a Christian home to get back on track. Pray he would join our men’s Bible study and would seek out other believers through church, etc.

Pray for a couple of men who’s names I don’t know: one that Charlie and Justine ministered to and prayed with and another elderly gentleman who has heart problems. Pray for health and salvation.

Pray for the teams:

Please pray for Godly wisdom and spiritual insight for the friday night “knXshn” teaching team as they go through the book of Matthew.

Also, please pray for Nick and Robin as they follow up with the Hollywood Church Exposure night volunteers. Pray that, if is God’s will, the men who came out on May 21 would receive a deep seated burden to partner with Broken Hearts.

Pray that God would provide a leader for friday nights as Nick plans to take a four month sabbatical beginning in mid-August. Pray, too, for a replacement leader for the Thursday night prayer team.

Lastly, pray for the continued spiritual, emotional, and physical health of the entire team.

For the streets:

-Tank: currently on parole; as so many on the streets do, knows the Word
well, but is not saved. Pray for salvation.

the Lord break the stronghold of that sexual addiction, that his heart may be pierced with conviction and that he may
be saved.

-Dallas: please pray for his salvation.

Prayer Requests 03.21.10

March 21st, 2010

Against spiritual warfare – this week on the streets was particularly difficult. Please pray we’d start making spiritual headway and that God would kick out the spirit of distraction.

For Ronny battling all sorts of addiction.  At one point a while ago he’d said he wanted to get into the Dream Center, but he continues to be trapped in his habits. Please pray for the miracle of salvation and full restoration.

For Jayden, who says he wants to go to rehab. That he would actually want that change enough to make it happen and get clean.

For our prayer team member Tongayi who has an important audition coming up. He’s been out of work for a while and we’d like to see him employed!

For Bob and Heather.  Bob’s uncle Jimmy just passed away a few days ago. They were really close to him and are having a lot of difficulty with this passing.  Please pray for comfort and reassurance that God is both good and in control.

Basileia, a Hollywood church plant, one of our supporting churches and the place where we hold our Thursday night prayer meetings, is moving this week. Pray for a smooth transition and for blessing on this new body.

For a strong, consistent Thursday night street team (and more girls!).

Praise:

God continues to keep us safe on the streets. This really ought not to be taken lightly, what with the hour we’re out and the long drive most people take! Let’s thank him for it.

Holly found an apartment! Thank you Jesus!

Prayer Requests 3.16.10

March 16th, 2010

Mark: A club promoter we’ve seen before. He goes to church, seems to know the Lord, and enjoys spending time with the Broken Hearts team, and even used to do street ministry with his dad. Pray that his walk with Jesus would be strengthened and that he’d drop some habits he’s formed (like occasionally eating “special” cookies…)

Tracy: She was out promoting clubs with Mark. She grew up in the Catholic tradition, but doesn’t have much use for God these days (though she did welcome prayer and allowed the street team to pray with her on Friday night). Pray that she has a tangible encounter with God and would put her trust in Him. Pray for healing.

James: was pretty high the whole night so it was hard to talk to him, but expressed interest in going to Rock Harbor with a team member.

Team: Pray for the overall health and wellness of the whole team. Pray specifically for the Friday night prayer team – that they would be rejuvenated and would have love in their hearts for our friends on the boulevard, even if they don’t get to see them on a regular basis.  Pray for Holly as she looks for an apartment in Hollywood and moves within these next few weeks.

Prayer Requests 3.8.10

March 8th, 2010

Praise!

-Our team got to pray for one of the security guards and lay hands on him.  It is good to see people on the streets opening up to prayer.

-The Refuge service was really good this past Thursday.  It lasted 40 minutes and had lots of active participation from the “congregation.”

Prayer for the streets:

-Please continue to pray for Jonathan as he continues to come to The Refuge.  He knows the word.  Pray he’d really give his whole life to Jesus and let Him be not only Savior, but also Lord.

-Pray for Mark #1 who came to The Refuge.  He is vocal about being anti-homosexuality, but this week Jeremiah got a chance to talk to him about how all sins are equally destructive.  Mark participated in the discussion and even read one of the Biblical passages for the group.

-Pray for Mark #2.  He is on probation.  Last year when we met him we were able to pray for him and help him get in contact with his family on the East coast.  He wanted to go back to them, but his probation won’t allow it, so he continues to live on the streets of Hollywood and do drugs.  Please, please pray that during this probation season that the Lord would get ahold of him, help him get off drugs, and bring him into the Kingdom.  Pray for our continued interactions with him.

-Pray for Ted who came to The Refuge.  He’s a Vietnam vet living on the street and addicted to prescription Methodone.  He knows the Word well, but keeps turning to chemicals instead of to Jesus.  Antquan and Jeremiah got to pray with him.  Please pray that this week would be the week of freedom for Ted and that he would be able to find his strength for living in Jesus.

-Pray for our dear sweet Jacob who got sent to jail for violating parole (cause he was in rehab).  He is discouraged.  Pray the Lord would grab his heart and give him freedom.  He is in desperate need of spiritual and emotional healing.  Please, please pray for him this week.  He also needs a job and a place to live.

-For Robin who’s in jail.  Pray that this would be a wake-up call and that he’d really come to know the Lord through his trials.

Pray for the Team:

-For Holly, who needs a place to live by March 20th.  God can do miracles, people!  Let’s pray for one for her.

-For prayer team members Jodi and Chris who are traveling to Canada during the next month or so.  Pray for safety and for rich times with the Lord while on the road.

-For the mental, emotional, physical, relational, financial, and spiritual health of all team members, as different ones of us are struggling with different things right now.  The enemy is strong, but the Lord is stronger.  “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”  Pray that in all trials we would cling to Jesus and find freedom in him.

Prayer Requests 3.1.10

March 1st, 2010

Prayer:

1) Justin -  He’s been off of meth for a month, but very much relies on weed to help him deal with his day (he’s high all the time). Antquan’s message totally spoke to what he is going through. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would open up his heart and penetrate his walls and that he’d be saved.

2) Brett – for continued growth in his walk

3) Jason – his wife is doing better, and he really wants to come to bible study next week, and asked that we make him come. I think he knows God but just needs growth and encouragement.

4) For more workers for the harvest! (the right ones, that is)

5) For Bob and Heather – Bob’s uncle is dying of cancer and found out that he probably has 6 months to 1 year to live. Heather and Bob are both pretty upset about it, and they’re staying with him in Norwalk right now. Pray for all of them, please.

6) For the team to be continually encouraged and strengthened.

7) For Ryan, who’s in jail.  Pray that this would be a wake up call for him.  Pray that he’d decide how much he hates living like this, and turn to Jesus for his strength to walk out of this lifestyle.

Prayer Requests 2.22.2010

February 21st, 2010

Praise:

-There’s been a relatively consistent group of people attending The Refuge on a weekly basis!

-Praise the Lord for the faithful team He has provided.

Prayer for our Boulevard Friends:

-Aaron: He’s been coming to The Refuge really regularly. Please pray that he wouldn’t just have head knowledge of the Word, but heart knowledge as well. Pray that he’d really fall in love with the Lord.

-For Jonathan as well, who knows Jesus but still hasn’t given up the lifestyle he’s grown accustomed to on the streets. Pray for Holy Spirit conviction and for him to be able to follow through in following Jesus.

-Jose the security guard and his wife as they deal with his wife having been sick. Pray for full recovery on her part and for salvation for both.

-For Greg, one of the security guards who lost his job. Pray for provision from the Lord and that his heart toward God would be softened during this time so that he’d come to know and love him.

-For Randy, who didn’t want to come to our church service, then ended up coming anyway and participating. He’d like prayer for his new daughter. Pray for him to come to know Christ.

-For the Thursday night men’s Bible study to continue to experience growth and close fellowship.

- Pray the Holy Spirit would go before us and make a way in the hearts of the people. Unless the Lord builds the house…its builders build in vain. Let’s ask the Lord to build this house.

Pray for the Team:

- Han, in Maryland, still needs to find a place to live before the end of the month. Pray the Lord’s leading.
- For the prayer team and Thursday night team to grow in sustainable numbers.
- Continue to pray specifically for unity and spiritual growth for each of the teams: Thursday night, Friday night, Prayer Teams.

Prayer Requests 2.5.10

February 6th, 2010

Prayer

Jacob – We’ve asked for prayer for Jacob before. He is a young guy in his early 20s who’s expressed an interest in getting off meth, but hasn’t yet looked into the rehab resources we offer. He knows all about Christianity, but pray that God would capture his heart and that he would find his strength in Jesus

Bill – Bill is a man in his late 70s or early 80s. He’s developed quite a friendship with one of our members of the street team, but he’s still closed off to God. Please pray that as the friendship continues to grow that his heart would open up to receiving God’s love and ultimately accepting Christ.

The Refuge – Please pray that people would be compelled to stay for The Refuge church service we hold at midnight on Thursday and Friday nights. People will often stop by to grab a piece of pizza or say hi, but they don’t often stay. Please pray the Lord would draw and compel them to be a part of the group.

Praise!
The men’s bible study that meets on Thursday nights went very well last week. Everyone was very involved in the discussion and seemed to be excited about being in the Word.

Aaron – Aaron is one of the top dogs out there on the streets. He joined us for the service and was very involved during Q&A. He seems to know the Word pretty well, so pray that it wouldn’t just be head knowledge, but that the heart knowledge would begin to impact the way he lives.

Prayer Requests 01.30.10

January 30th, 2010

Praise:

-God did a lot this week! The Refuge service on Thursday night was
well-attended and the new format Jeremiah is trying out sparked a lot of
good questions from the congregation. Praise the Lord for the interest he
is creating in the hearts of our Boulevard friends.

-Praise God that Mark, a club promoter, consistently comes and seeks out
the BH team every time he’s in the area. Pray for his walk with the Lord.

-Wayne came to The Refuge even after his friends left. He didn’t say much,
but God is obviously working in his heart. Pray for salvation

-The BH prayer team continues to grow in number. This is a huge praise as
we started out with just one person!

Prayer:

-Pray for Freddie who’s mother just died. He’s considering checking into
a mental hospital.

-Pray for Jake. Pray for continued sobriety and that he would leave the
Ba’hai Faith and come back to Jesus.

-Pray that God would make a way for us in the hearts of the people on the
Boulevard.

-Please continue to lift the team up in prayer – for financial provision
and for strengthened relationships with the Lord and with each other.

Prayer Requests 01.16.10

January 19th, 2010

Jacob – Please pray he’d pursue rehab and be able to quit meth, like he wants to. Also, he enjoys going to church in Orange County with the team, but please pray that he would get plugged in to a solid church in Hollywood.

Cody – Stayed for Bible study. Says he “knows” God, but seems to be “spiritual” rather than Christian. Please pray for salvation.

Nathan – Usually dressed in drag, Nathan was dressed like a man this past Thursday night. This could indicate he just got out of jail, but let’s pray he’s making a change to get out of prostituting and off the streets. Pray, of course, for his salvation.

Prayer Requests 01.09.10

January 9th, 2010

Andre – The streets were a bit more somber tonight, as a friend on the boulevard, Andre, died this week. He was only 24. His death is making a lot of people think, and several people have already contacted us about getting into rehab. Please pray that this difficult time would help people start making the right choices, and that the Holy Spirit would come enter lives and bring comfort.

Jonah – Jonah is a believer and was good friends with Andre. Andre’s passing has made a big impact on him. Please pray that he would be fully restored to the Lord and would begin living in Him.

Jake – New Year’s Eve marked Jake’s 30-day-sober anniversary, and he’s still going strong. Praise God! Please pray that as he continues to walk in sobriety Jake would come back to the Lord.

The Team – Praises! God is working a lot of good things into the lives of the Broken Hearts Team, from emotional healing to new job opportunities. He has also expanded the numbers of the Thursday and Friday night prayer teams. Thank you for your continued prayers for us as we do this work.

Prayer Requests 11.22.09

November 22nd, 2009

Jake – Seven-days-sober, please pray for continued sobriety as Jake seeks rehab. Jake is a brother in the Lord with whom we’ve had a relationship for some time. Please also pray that during this time he would feel the nearness of God and would know God’s love for him as he wrestles through the issues that have pushed him toward crystal meth.

Max – Thursday night’s Refuge message was on breaking out of harmful cycles. After hearing the message, Max approached Jeremiah and said he wanted help getting out of the cycle he found himself in. Pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to work as Max reflects on what happened Thursday.

Louis – Also came to the Refuge, but has a lot of anger and pride. Please pray the Holy Spirit would heal whatever hurts Louis has, and in so doing that God would draw Louis into relationship with the Savior.

Praise – God has brought about a few new members of the Broken Hearts team recently, and may also be providing a way for some of the Orange County team members to move up to the Hollywood community. Please pray for God’s continued provision and direction.

Prayer Requests 11.21.09

November 21st, 2009

A more full update of this week’s Refuge service will be posted tomorrow, but this one is a bit urgent so please keep it in your prayers today:

Jake – Seven-days-sober, please pray for continued sobriety as Jake seeks rehab. Jake is a brother in the Lord with whom we’ve had a relationship for some time. Please also pray that during this time he would feel the nearness of God and would know God’s love for him as he wrestles through the issues that have pushed him toward crystal meth.

The Nightmare Before Christmas film

this Friday’s knXshn service.

Also, please pray that God would bless our ministers with divine appointments to empower and encourage the community we serve.

Lastly, please lift up the Wilcox LAPD station. Pray that God would provide them
with them with the protection, wisdom, resources, and grace necessary to police the
neighborhood.

Prayer Requests 11.14.09

November 16th, 2009

Prayer:
Jake - needs continued prayer as he wades through rehab. Pray that he would continue to lean on the Lord for strength to stay sober, and not on himself. Pray also for our brother Jamal for continued strengthening in the Lord.

”Sammy” - who came to the Refuge service and was excited about God’s Word. He’s an older gentleman who has a lot of experience with the church. Pray that he would continue to be open to the Holy Spirit. For “T“, a guy who came with Sammy and seemed interested in the service and in conversation.

”James” – who also came with Sammy. James is caught in the lifestyle of escorting and meth addiction. Please pray for him, that God would call him out of prostitution and into the love of Christ. Pray that the Broken Hearts team would continue to see him on the streets and have interaction with him.

Marco - once hostile toward the Broken Hearts team, he’s been opening up more lately. Please pray that he would see God’s love in us.

Adam - who doesn’t see a way out of prostituting. Pray that he would be able to find another source of income, and that he would be willing to step forward in faith that God can provide. Pray that he would trust God.

Pray for “Bob” and his wife, as they have been living in a hotel for a while, and the wife has been sick. Pray also for their pregnant daughter.

Praise:
Praise God for our growing relationship with the security guards in the area! The last four weeks have seen a real boost in interaction with them. Please continue to pray for their salvation.

Praise God that when the police who patrol the area hear about what we are doing they don’t ask us to leave. Pray that we would continue to have opportunities to witness to them, as well as to our friends on the street.

Prayer Requests 11.09.09

November 11th, 2009

As Friday night has come into a season of new growth, I am all the more appreciative of my ministry mates as well as the community that we serve. Praise Jesus for like-minded saints of bosom interest, conviction, and passion.

Please pray that our Broken Hearts ministers would: 1) have understanding of the ways of the Spirit and will make room for God; 2) be sensitive and flexible to flow with whatever new thing God wants to do; 3) be taken over by the fear of the Lord and released from the fear of men; 4) recognize that fear of the Lord is the source of our much needed wisdom; 5) be given a deep desire to be
radically real and to repent of all hypocrisy.

I came across this prayer exhortation in one of my study bibles and thought, ” WOW! That’s the kind of stuff that makes changes.” So that’s my prayer request for the time being. The heart of it is that as we minister in the community, “man-pleasing” or
“reputation” would not be more of a concern than “preaching good tidings to the poor, healing the brokenhearted, and proclaiming liberty to the captives.”

-Nick

Prayer Requests 10.31.09

October 31st, 2009

Praise!
Thank God for continued safety. Last week’s violent car incident and an armed robbery this week were good reminders that street ministry can be dangerous, but that God is our protector!

We had four extra people pray with the prayer team on Thursday night.  Prayer is the heartbeat of our ministry and we are happy to see it grow.

Pray
For Mark – a kid who was on the streets promoting a rave last week and attended The Refuge. He came out again this week specifically to seek us out. Pray that he would continue to come out and that relationships would be established. Pray for his salvation.

Jake – who is still seeking rehab. He is our brother in the Lord, so pray that he wouldn’t feel the condemnation of the enemy, but that he would feel the love and encouragement of God as he seeks to get his life back on track.

For the security guards who work the area with whom we have a continued relationship. Pray they would be saved.

Prayer Requests 10.24.09

Local churches – please pray that they would be strong and persevere as Satan attacks their attempts to bring light to the city – for their congregations, leaders, families and missions.

‘Jake’ – had to leave rehab, but is going back. Please pray that he would get in very soon and continue the road to recovery well while growing in his relationship with Christ.

Praise! – Friday night had their first service and 3 people came and stayed for the whole thing as Nick shared his testimony

Antquan and Lorena – Our executive director and his wife. Pray for them as leaders of this ministry, that God would keep them strong in their work to reach the city. And for discernment as they work with various churches in the area and determine where and how to be involved.

Walt- Is on drugs and is a huge womanizer. Lives in Hollywood with his girlfriend who as of tonight locked him out of their apartment. He works at the DMV. Is not a believer.

Thank you for your prayers.

The Hollywood Church

October 7th, 2009

Hey prayer partners, we’ve just been given an opportunity to pray for our ministry partners. A number of families at The Hollywood Church have been experiencing spiritual warfare. Please pray that the enemy would be thwarted, and that in the midst of the difficulties, those feeling the attack would sense how much bigger God is than the enemy. The Hollywood Church has been a huge support to Broken Hearts by opening up their doors to us and any who come with us Sunday mornings. It would be great if we could return the support by praying for them. Thanks!

-Rachel Ann

Please pray for the streets in general, specifically against the strongholds (drugs, alcohol, prostitution) and overwhelming darkness. Some nights people are nearly impossible to talk to because they’re so consumed with making a deal or getting their fix, and there are so many distractions out there.  ‘Jake’

– we took him to rehab at Set Free in Cabazon this past Friday morning and after 24 hours heard that he was still there. Pray that he would remain committed to the program, and would be encouraged by other believers there. He knows he needs to fully surrender his life back to Christ and wants to get clean and get his life together. In just a few weeks he has become a very special person to several of us. Please pray that this changes his life!

‘Rick’ – that he would continue coming to bible study, reading the bible we gave him (that he asked for) and would come to church with us soon (as he’s asked to do also). There seems to be some major barriers around the issue of homosexuality, so pray that God would be working in that part of his life.

Andre – that he would experience God in a new way that would show him how much better God is than the drugs he’s addicted to. And that he’d be able to find a job and a place to stay.  Also, that he’d come back next week as he told us he would

David – That he would be able to overcome his alcoholism and view God as more than just his creator, but would truly have a personal relationship with him that changes his life

Prayer Requests 04.17.09

‘K’ and ‘J’ – Immediately after this Thursday’s sermon about finding satisfaction in the work that we do with our hands, K immediately stated, with an almost downtrodden tone, that she is very good at dealing. Her tone then lifted as she continued to list all of the other skills she has. She concluded by informing us that she is 9 days away from completing a Medical Assistant course. She already has the next steps of her new career laid out too. Her boyfriend told us just two skills: basketball and dealing. He doesn’t know anything else. K is the mother of two children and it seems that she is taking her life in the right direction now. Please pray for wisdom, perseverance, patience (with each other), and for God’s will to be done in their lives. Pray for defense against the many attacks they already face and will continue to face from the enemy. They have a way out of his trip and he certainly is not happy about that.

For Nick Harmon: our Friday night ministry leader has been having a lot of car issues. Please pray that God would provide an affordable, reliable car for him as he has to drive to and from school, church, and Hollywood weekly.

Willie: He is out of prison.  He was supposed to be in for 120 days at the Wayside South jail but God had told him that he was going to go home early and he indeed got let out earlier.  He witnessed many men get saved in prison on Easter

Daffy: 28 years old, has a 14-year-old son who he hasn’t seen since he’s (Daffy) been locked up.  He just got out a few months ago.  He has been in prison for most his life and would prefer being locked in then living homeless on the streets.  He grew up as a Catholic and believes in God through Jesus but is not “ready” to go to the Refuge because he knows that he will just continue to just leave service doing and thinking bad things.  He is claimed to be one of the most dangerous and sought out criminals in the nation.  He was raised in Compton.
Prayer Requests 04.03.09

For a building in the area (there are a few for lease right now). That God would provide if that is his will, and that funds could be raised and resources provided to run a facility.  As well as wisdom to know what the best way to use the space is, and for creating a business plan for how to run a shelter/community center/coffee shop/ etc.

Nigel – that he would want to beat his dependence on beer and that he would rely fully on God when he is tempted to cover his pain with alcohol.

Viper: a wife of one of the security guards who has numerous health issues.

Rudy: for peace (he does not know how he feels about God. he is 32yrs old and recently lost his virginity to a man with whom he is now estranged.)

Climax: for stability (a transsexual person who is struggling financially)

Spiderman: financial stability

Reggie: better relations with teen daughter

Prayer Requests – 01.16.09

Praise the Lord for the work He is doing in the streets of Hollywood. Please pray that God would bless Rick, a homeless local, with the gift faith. Pray that with that faith He would graciously accept any exit plan that the Lord provides for Rick to get off the streets and plugged in to a local congregation. Also, please pray for Nigel and the Lord’s relationship. Nigel has been approaching God on his terms rather than on God’s. Pray for our street corner society (Fam), that the Lord would continue to bless them with a fighting chance to taste and see how good our Lord Jesus is.
 Prayer Requests – 01.12.09

Pray that we would shine Gods light out in Hollywood.  That people out there would not be afraid to come and talk to us about anything. And that God would bring us conversations with people who are hungry and ready for Him. Please pray that God would continue to give us wisdom and vision about where he wants us and how he wants to use us. That he would provide a building for us in the city in His perfect timing.

Prayer Requests 12.12.08

Please pray for “Cassandra”,  that he would get to know God more and more and  that God would put conviction on his heart. And for,  Bear, that God will start to bring him back to him again. Also, pray that the tumors in his feet and the cancer won’t take
him before God brings him back. Pray that he will start to be optimistic
about all the little blessings he still has in life.

 Prayer Requests 11.25.08

Pray for Bear. He believes that God is done with him and he is now done with God. Both his wife and son died a number of years ago. He is a Messianic Jew and has been rejected by the synagogue because of his belief in Jesus. He used to be a pastor of a church until he found a 14yr boy hanging from a rafter in the church. He is now dying of cancer and was told 2 months ago that he only has 3 months to live. He figures he is going to hell because he has turned from God. Pray that the Holy Spirit will soften his heart and restore his faith. He carries much anger. He states that he is now waiting to die.   Please pray for our Thanksgiving dinner this week, that many people from the streets would come and be awakened to the goodness of God and salvation through him
 Prayer Requests 11.07.08

Please pray for Fabian, who is off the streets and doing well in a home. Pray that he stays there and that God would be working in him! Please also pray for “Alex”, who has been wanting to get off of the streets for a while. He wants to move to Oakland and start over, which would probably be good for him. Pray that he could find a way to do that and that he could find a job there so he doesn’t have to prostitute anymore. My prayer is that we meet someone that (has been coming around for sometime or new out there) is ready to receive Christ and wants nothing else but Him to change their life. Star -  she was beaten up pretty badly which is why we haven’t seen her in a while. She said she was going to school and trying to focus on that more which is really good. But she said she’ll be out on the streets on Friday and Saturday nights still. So just keep her in prayer maybe she needs to realize that God is trying to tell her to get off the streets. First, please pray that the Lord would bless the Friday night branch of Broken Hearts with a vision and place in the community.  Second, pray for the Lord to soften the hearts of the LAPD Wilcox precinct and the shop managers of the 7/11 strip mall.   Hoagies and Wings put the kabash on our (Friday nights) BBQ’s, so we want to get permission to BBQ in the 7/11 parking lot.  Third, pray that the Lord bless us with more divine appointments to establish relationships to sow His seeds through.    Last but not least, please pray for me, Nick Harmon, as I prepare to go visit my mother.  Many years ago my mother deliberately walked away from sound scriptural teachings and the safety that Church living provides Christ’s body.  The tide of this world has swept her away into depression, poverty, and a blindness to things of the Lord and she is in a bad way physically, mentally, and spiritually.  Please pray that she does not attempt to take her own life and the life of my sister.  Also, pray that I would be a faithful vessel of God’s love and compassion while visiting with her and my sister.
Prayer Requests 10.24.08

Please pray for our team, for those who are dealing with health issues, school, and general busyness in their lives that can be a distraction from keeping God first and having peace. And for this upcoming week in Hollywood, the day before Halloween and the day of, as it will probably be a weekend that Satan could easily have a strong foothold. For Howard: please pray that the Lord would send the Holy Spirit to convict Howard of his sin.  Also pray that He would equip us, the Broken Hearters, with the words, patience, and love to caress Howard’s heart into the Lord’s hands.
 Prayer Requests 10.14.08

Please pray that the Lord would work in the heart of “Matt” the owner of the Theater Asylum.  Pray that he would be willing to donate the theater to Broken Hearts a couple of times a week for church services.  Also, please pray for the relationships that are developing with the Friday night team and “Saul” (the owner of Hot Wings and Hoagies).  Also, finally please pray for me (Nick Harmon) because I need the Lord to light my path clearly in this new season I am entering into.  Thanks for the support. Please pray for Darius.  He isn’t a believer but he continues to come out Thursday nights. Pray that our conversations would be fruitful and God would plant a seed in his heart. He has a lot of reservations about God and I pray that his heart would be softened. PLEASE keep praying for “Siggy”  His heart is truly in the right place.  Pray that he can get his life back on track as far as a job and a home. Pray that “Cassandra”, a transgender the team knows well, would continue to have increased curiosity about Jesus. Prayer Requests 10.02.08

Please pray for “Siggy” that he would be able to find a job this week and a place to stay. For  Naomi and Lucy that God would soften their hearts and that they would ask questions and come to our Bible studies. For “Alex”: That he may be serious about finding a serious job in cosmetology and apply for something this week, and that the Lord will just reign down love on him.JL: That his pains from the electric shock therapy, and exorcism as a child will not hinder his view on Christianity as being a cult anymore. That the Lord will protect him and help him do well in school! And for “Giovanni”: that he would continue to be open to hearing about God and that his uncertain thoughts about Jesus and Christianity would cause him to seek out the truth. And that the Holy Spirit would show him how enslaved he is to sexual sin, masochism and weed.  That he would find his fulfillment in Christ’s love.
Prayer Requests 09.26.08

Please pray for “Ravi”, who is homeless and is tired of sleeping on the streets. He has a job but the pay is not substantial. He has to have surgery soon due to an infection from a previous surgery. He is worried about the expense because he does not have health insurance and has already been denied MediCal. He was told to have a psych eval and depending on diagnosis, he can reapply. He believes in God and accepts Christ as his Savior but does not believe he will see the kingdom of God because of his homosexual lifestyle. He wants a place to rest his head. He wants to feel safe and have peace. And for Justin, who has been prostituting for a few years and doesn’t have a steady place to live. He wants to find a real job incredibly bad, but doesn’t really know how or hasn’t heard back from the places he’s applied to. He is transgender and doesn’t know if his sexual sin is keeping God from blessing him. He knows and believes in God, and may be starting to realize that lifestyle can separate him from God, even though God will always love him. Pray that he’ll seek God and His will and that he can find the resources to get a real job so he can get off the streets. Prayer Requests 09.19.08

“Siggy” – Please pray for his job search, that God would provide him with a good job. And that his newly recommitted life to Christ would continue to grow and be strengthened. “Tony” – That God would invade every area of his life. Even though he loves God, he’s still living under his own truth and doing things his way.  He listens to the Spirit now and has great faith in Christ. And that God would take him away from Hollywood and continue  to grow his desire to do more with his life. Please pray that he continues to maintain the optimism, endurance, and faith he possesses. Pray that he can find the words to minister to his friends “who are wrong in what they do”.JL – Pray that he will be out next Thursday and that we can continue our discussion with him. Yesterday he started crying and saying that he does not like what he is doing, he does not want to be a transgender anymore, and does not know what to do. Pray that the Lord will bring him
back to us so we can continue to minister to him and show him the hope and
love of a new life in Christ Jesus.
“ Jon”:  who has fallen away from his family and congregation but is still desperately seeking the Lord.   Please pray that Jon would be convicted out of his present lifestyle on the streets of Hollywood and back into his congregation to be with his family.  He has a wife a two daughters.
“Saul”:   an elder in the community that the youths look to for advice and encouragement.  Please pray that God would bless him with the gift of faith.  In turn, pray that God would use Saul’s faith to lead others to Himself and into the body.
 Prayer Requests – 09.12.08

Pray for Little Devil, who is there every week. And for “Maury”, who is recently homeless. He sleeps in his car and wants God to provide for him a place to live. He has a relationship with God and he does not understand why God would allow him to be homeless. He also feels like God has given him many gifts (which is really evident if you meet him) and he needs direction with the calling on his life. “Michelle”: a transgender prostitute and former drug addict who we saw a lot last year and just saw again this week. The reason for the long departure was a 2 month jail sentence for prostitution and a year long rehab program that transition him into a home through the Gay and Lesbian center. He has a place to stay, but is still working the streets from time to time. We invited him to The Refuge and he replied “have I ever not come when invited?” because before his departure he had been attending the service regularly. Pray that he would be saved, get out of prostitution, stay sober, and find a life away from Hollywood. And that he would continue attending our bible study, sober and with a heart ready to be molded. The same prayer can be prayed for “Manny” who once again came to our bible study. After the service he had to catch the bus to head home.  But he made it a point to ask if we had a service out here at this time and he said he would be right here same time next week.   Prayer Requests – 09.05.08

Please pray for Mohammad, that his heart would continue to be soft towards us and we can set an example for him of God’s love. “Juan”- Last week  Juan shared with Antquan and David for about 30 minutes about some of the reasons why he is where he is now.  His childhood was filled with a lot of physical and emotional abuse, didn’t ask about sexual yet but there may have been some of that as well.  He had his first encounter with Hollywood at the age of 13.  Some of his older friends accelerated the life of this teenage boy.  He started drinking and party around that same time.  At 14 he reported the abuse to the authorities and was taken out of his house and bounce from home to home running away in between his the many transitions.  In our discussion we both agreed that there were and still have been many opportunities from him to get out of Hollywood; And though he has taken some of them he is right back smack in the middle of it again.  Here are some ways you can pray for him. He is attend LA trade Tech- Pray for perseverance. He has a desire to come out to Hollywood for friends and lifestyle-  Pray that his Identity would be found in Christ and for good friends
He is HIV positive- Pray for Hope when Feeling Hopeless
Tanya-  In our bible study we are going through Romans and a couple of weeks ago we preached on Romans 1 which list a number of sins that this community can identify with, mainly homosexuality.  Tanya was there stayed through out the service and even stayed for prayer and recap after the service.  Here are some ways you can pray for him. He is a currently a Homeless- Pray that he would be willing to take shelter that is offered with no strings attached. He is trans gender-  Pray that he would let God begin a work from the inside out He is currently prostituting to make it.- Pray that he would trust God to provide and that we would be able to assist him in finding a good paying job
He has a background of being in the Church- Pray that he would go back to the place that brings peace, comfort, joy.. you know the rest.  Pray that the Church could be recognized through our ministry and that he would be drawn to God that way.
Prayer Requests 08.29.08

For “Ernie”:a 17 year-old with a son that he can’t see but misses, and who recently found out that he’s HIV positive and is dealing with it through drugs and alcohol. He knows the truth but hasn’t turned his life over to God yet, but is in so much pain and has been through so much. Please pray that he would turn to God and that God would keep him healthy as long as possible. For  “Manny”: a young man who decided tonight that he needs to make some major changes, get into a shelter, and start turning his life back over to God. Pray that his relationship with God would move beyond just belief and prayer and into a deep, faith-filled, hopeful relationship with Christ. Praise God for bringing 8 visitors out with us this Friday to learn more about BH and for those who expressed interest in continuing with the ministry. What an amazing encouragement to our team, and to those they met on the street! Prayer Requests 08.28.08  Praise Report! “Seth”, a man we met in the donut shop, rededicated his life to Christ tonight. He’s from New Orleans and will be moving back in a few weeks, trying to get out of a difficult situation in Hollywood. He’s a Christian but going through some hard times, and gave his life back to God tonight. Please pray that he’ll remain on that path and seeking after God.For “Lindsey”: a transgender prostitute who has been working the streets for about a year now, living in his car, going from abusive relationship to abusive relationship, and as he put it, “looking angry and like I’m ready to beat someone on the outside, but inside I just feel like crying”. He wants out of this lifestyle and is thinking of trying to get into a shelter or home of some sort. Please pray that he will move forward and commit to changing and that his belief of Jesus and God would turn into a personal relationship.“Will”: that he will access mental health clinic and obtain the medical health he needs so that he can get well. Also, that he will commit his life to Christ and be transformed. For “Brendan”: that he will also feel strengthened to access the mental health care he needs and be free from substance addiction. Also, that he will commit his life to Christ and be transformed. God Bless! Prayer Requests 08.14.08

Please pray for “Jeremiah”, a 15 year old drug dealer who recently got out of jail and doesn’t want to live at home because his mother is abusive. He’s heard what we’ve told him about Jesus, but doesn’t seem to be able to accept it. Pray for “Ravi”, who is a Christian getting more excited about God. He was homeless but just got into a shelter. Pray that God would continue speaking to him and would provide a job for him, as well as the ability to share Christ with the young men he watches out for on the streets of Hollywood. And Praise God for Helen and the progress she had made. She is in a Christian shelter, attending church each week, and has been clean of drugs and alcohol for several months!!!God Bless! Prayer Requests – 07.17.08

Please pray for “Richard”, and 84 year-old man who is completely open to the gospel but hasn’t heard enough about it or Jesus to be willing to believe just yet. Pray that we will continue to see him in Hollywood and be able to keep telling him about Jesus, and that God would open his heart to be receptive.  Please pray for Sterling, who has a past of  struggling with demon-possession, addiction to drugs and alcohol, and the homosexual lifestyle. Pray that he would be delivered from those addictions and that demons would no longer be able to control him, and that he would fully surrender to Christ.  Prayer Requests from 05.01.08

Please pray for 4 kids, all runaways who hang have been hanging out together on the streets for the last month or so. Mary, 18, who left because of abuse at home and could easily be put in danger on the streets and succumb to the lifestyle there. Charlie and Katie, 17, dating and ran away together, ’she’ is prostituting ‘herself’ to make money and both doing drugs.  Pray for Matt and Mattey who are atheists.
